Hours Description: Full Time

Yorkton Co-op is looking for a Meat Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Food Division Manager, the Meat Manager is responsible for a $3.2 million meat department located in our Food Store in Yorkton, SK. We are seeking a self-motivated, ambitious, and energetic individual who will be involved in all aspects of management including: performance management, operational results, and the achievement of organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, implement and be responsible for the sales, margins, expenses, inventory and productivity of the Meat Department.
  • Ensuring merchandising, product and facility image are at the highest standards
  • Preparation of annual budget
  • Develop staff through performance management
  • Maintain high standards in food safety and sanitation
  • Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • In accordance with departmental budget and collective bargaining agreement, schedule department staff to meet production and customer service needs in an efficient manner.
  • Provide leadership in the area of employee relations, training, development, performance management, discipline, recognition and union contract compliance.


  • Strong customer service skills
  • Supervisory and delegation experience
  • Capable of attaining high levels of production with minimum supervision
  • Experience leading a team to effectively achieve the goals of the department and the retail.
  • Positive attitude toward safety and toward continuous professional development
  • Meat cutting certificate or equivalent meat cutting experience
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety and teamwork
