News From Your Co-op

Yorkton Co-op Board of Directors recently approved a $10,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity - Yorkton. This donation will help them reach their goal of raising more than $120,000 for their first home build scheduled for May. Habitat for Humanity is known worldwide for building affordable housing for low income working families. Yorkton Co-op employees helped serve more than 200 people at the annual Soup Haven Christmas Dinner in 2008. Yorkton Co-op supplied all of the food, beverages, desserts and helped serve the meal. A good time was had by all and no one went away hungry. This is an annual event that Yorkton Co-op has sponsored the last two years. "It's important that we give back to the community that suports us," said General Manager Bruce Thurston. "This is one way that we can not only contribute financially to the community, but it gives us an opportunity to volunteer also".
